Richard Wilson, MD
Professor Richard Wilson is Professor of Gastrointestinal Oncology at the University of Glasgow and Honorary Consultant in Medical Oncology at the Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre.
He completed his medical training at Queen’s University Belfast and later undertook advanced training in oncology and in drug development, including a Visiting Fellowship in developmental therapeutics at the National Cancer Institute in the United States.
His clinical and research work focuses on gastrointestinal cancers, including colorectal malignancies, with an emphasis on translational research and clinical trials. He has served as Chief Investigator on multiple phase I, II, and III studies across local, national, and international programs.
Professor Wilson has played a key role in the UK in developing clinical research infrastructure, including establishing early-phase cancer trials programs and contributing to academic training in oncology. He previously served as Chair of the UK National Cancer Research Institute Colorectal Clinical Studies Group.
