Paul Workman, PhD
Sir Paul Workman is Chief Executive and President of The Institute of Cancer Research (ICR), London, and Harrap Professor of Pharmacology and Therapeutics. He is a leading figure in the discovery and development of molecularly targeted cancer therapies.
His work has focused on translating advances in cancer biology into therapeutic strategies, including the development of drugs targeting key pathways involved in tumor growth and survival. He has contributed to multiple oncology programs spanning discovery through early clinical development.
Prior to his current role, Sir Paul led the Cancer Research UK Cancer Therapeutics Unit at the ICR and has held academic and industry positions at institutions including the University of Cambridge, Stanford University, and AstraZeneca. He has also been involved in the founding of biotechnology companies, including Piramed Pharma, which was acquired by Roche.
He is a Fellow of several scientific societies, including the Academy of Medical Sciences, and was knighted for services to cancer research and drug discovery.
