BBC Radio Foyle Interview with CV6 CEO and Founder

1st October 2026

CV6 Therapeutics founder and CEO Dr. Robert Ladner joined The Mark Patterson Show on BBC Radio Foyle on July 13, 2026, for a conversation about cancer research, his friendship with Professor Paddy Johnston, and the decision to build CV6 in Northern Ireland. The interview follows his journey from the United States to Belfast, where a scientific collaboration became a company working to bring a new cancer therapy to patients.

Reflecting on Paddy Johnston’s vision and the role of Queen’s University Belfast in advancing CV6’s drug into clinical trials, Bob said: “It wasn’t Harvard or Stanford or Oxford or Cambridge … It was Queen’s.” He discussed the scientific talent, university support and collaboration that helped turn years of research into an investigational medicine.

Bob also discussed CV6-168, the company’s investigational cancer therapy being evaluated alongside established chemotherapy in a first-in-human clinical trial. From drug discovery and manufacturing to treating patients in Belfast, he described the contributions of researchers, clinicians and partners across the region. “So this is truly a Northern Ireland story,” he said.

The conversation also took a personal turn as Bob recalled discovering his family’s former home in Limavady and the connections between his Irish heritage, his love of salmon fishing and the life he has built here. “This feels like home,” he told Patterson.
