AIB Business Eye Award Nominations Recognise CV6 Innovation, Growth and Leadership

2nd October 2026

CV6 Therapeutics has received recognition for its scientific innovation, growth as a Belfast based biotechnology company and the leadership of Founder and CEO Dr Robert D. Ladner.

Organised by Northern Ireland business magazine Business Eye in partnership with AIB, the awards are marking their 20th year of recognising achievement, innovation and leadership across the region’s business community.

CV6 is shortlisted for Innovative Company of the Year, sponsored by Queen’s University Business School, and Small Business of the Year, sponsored by NI Chamber. Dr Ladner is also shortlisted for Business Personality of the Year, sponsored by Ardmore Group.

The recognition comes as CV6 advances CV6-168, its first-in-class investigational cancer medicine, through a Phase1a clinical trial involving patients at cancer centres in Belfast and across the UK.

The Innovative Company of the Year nomination recognises CV6’s Genomic Uracil Stress Response (GUSR) platform, which is being developed to improve the effectiveness of established treatments across cancer and inflammatory disease.

CV6-168 is designed to work alongside 5-fluorouracil, commonly known as 5-FU, one of the world’s most widely used cancer medicines.

The Small Business of the Year nomination recognises CV6’s development from an original scientific discovery into a clinical stage biotechnology company. Headquartered in Belfast, CV6 has attracted substantial international investment while building its scientific operations in Northern Ireland and working with clinical investigators, advisers and partners across the UK and internationally.

Dr. Ladner’s nomination for Business Personality of the Year recognises his leadership in bringing the science from the laboratory into clinical development. After leaving a major American cancer research institution, he chose to build CV6 in Belfast, recruiting scientists from the United States while hiring and championing Northern Ireland talent.

“These nominations recognise different parts of the same journey. Scientific innovation depends upon talented people, strong institutions and a community willing to support ambitious ideas. Belfast has provided all three. I am proud of what our team has built here and grateful to see their work recognised within Northern Ireland’s wider business community.”

Reaching our 20th year is a significant milestone, and we look forward to recognising another exceptional group of finalists and winners in 2026.”
