Sebastian Stintzing, MD, currently serves as a distinguished Professor of Medicine and leads the Department of Hematology, Oncology, and Tumor Immunology within the CCM at Charité Universitaetsmedizin Berlin. His professional focus involves identifying predictive and prognostic biomarkers in gastrointestinal cancer treatment.
In 2012, he was awarded the esteemed Research Fellowship Award from “Deutsche Krebshilfe” (German Cancer Aid) in Bonn, Germany, facilitating his research fellowship at the Sharon Carpenter Laboratory, USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center, University of Southern California, Los Angeles, under the mentorship of Prof. Heinz-Josef Lenz.
Sebastian attained his medical degree from Friedrich-Alexander University of Erlangen-Nuremberg before completing an internship and initiating his residency at the Department of Gastroenterology, Pulmonology, and Hepatology at the University Hospital in Erlangen, supervised by Prof. E. Hahn. Concurrently, he served as a research fellow at the Laboratory for Hepatology and Oncology within the Department of Gastroenterology, working alongside Prof. M. Ocker. He completed his residency and obtained specialization in Hematology and Oncology at the Department of Hematology and Oncology at the Hospital Grosshadern, affiliated with the Ludwig-Maximilians University of Munich, under the mentorship of Prof. W. Hiddemann. During this period, he joined the “Oncology” research group, commonly known as the “FIRE-group,” under the mentorship of Prof. V. Heinemann.
